Four things decide your grade.
- CenteringHow evenly the artwork sits within the borders, front and back.
- CornersSharp and clean, or soft, rounded and dinged.
- EdgesSmooth and whitening-free along every side.
- SurfaceFree of scratches, print lines, dents and holo scuffing.
Tip: hold a card at an angle under good light before you submit — most surface and edge wear only shows up that way.

Grading questions, answered.
Is grading my cards worth it?
If a card is in strong condition and has real value or demand, grading almost always pays off — a high-grade slab can sell for several times the raw price, and it protects the card forever. For low-value or heavily played cards, it's usually not worth the fee. When in doubt, get it valued first.
How much does grading cost in South Africa?
Through GradeIT, roughly from R400 per card with CGC, around R550 with BGS, and about R600 with PSA, depending on the service. Group submissions keep the shipping cost per card low. High-value cards may attract a PSA upcharge.
How long does grading take?
Expect around 80 to 120 days depending on the grader and tier, since the cards travel overseas and back. Times are estimates and move with submission volume.
PSA, CGC or BGS — which should I pick?
PSA carries the strongest resale premium, especially on Pokémon. CGC is fast and well-regarded on modern cards. BGS is known for detailed sub-grades. GradeIT lets you choose per submission.
What does the grading scale mean?
Cards are scored out of 10 on overall condition — 10 is Gem Mint (as close to flawless as it gets), 9 is Mint, 8 is Near Mint–Mint, and so on down. Graders judge centering, corners, edges and surface.
Is it safe to send my cards overseas?
Yes — that's the point of a middleman. GradeIT handles the export, customs and insurance, and everything is tracked in and out of the country, so you're not shipping abroad on your own.
Do they grade cards other than Pokémon?
Yes — Yu-Gi-Oh!, Magic: The Gathering, sports cards, and even comics, Funko and more.
